We're often asked, "How do you compare to other placenta specialists?" Our answer: "We don't!" Seriously. There are two providers in Michigan that we recommend, but unlike other placenta specialists, we are not labor coaches or lactation consultants. We are not doulas or mid-wives (although we love working with them!). We specialize in post-partum recovery by preserving mothers' placenta. Period. We know all there is to know about how to extract every single benefit in every form from placentas! We're the busiest and most recognized and most experienced placenta specialists in Michigan -- and we got that way by consistently providing fast, personalized, thoughtful service ...one mom at a time.
My name is Melissa; I am a certified Colon Hydrotherapist, Certified Natural Health Professional(CNHP), and I'm studying to be a Master Herbalist. I gave birth to our first baby in January of 2009. Our home birth could be called 'unassisted', but that's not really true. My wonderful husband Tom helped deliver her. My parents and my mother-in-law and a dear masseuse friend were also assisting in their own way. (You guessed it, my father-in-law was too 'freaked' to be there - he came after she was born. I think he was sorry afterward to have missed such an amazing event!) Tom and I did a lot of research into natural childbirth, and as I study to earn my Master Herbalist credentials, I've learned a lot of amazing things about the use of herbs in pregnancy and childbirth. I also studied about the many benefits of placentophagia (placenta eating), and knew that I would do that. Sure enough, soon after birth I was bleeding quite a bit and feeling weak. I tossed some raw placenta into the back of my mouth and chased it with orange juice -- I recovered immediately! I continued to eat the raw placenta for the next few days, and I had NO complications! NONE. I had plenty of breast milk, no excessive bleeding, no postpartum depression. I was HOOKED on the unparalleled benefits of placenta eating. Now I am happy to provide placenta encapsulation services for the faint-of-heart who don't want to eat raw placenta, as I chose to do!! All of the benefits - none of the mess! I would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Oh yes -- we home delivered our second daughter in November 2011 -- another beautiful birth experience.
Hi - I am Cathy, Melissa's favorite mother-in-law. I am a Naturopathic Doctor, a Master Herbalist, AAMA Certified MA. and a Certified Natural Health Professional (CNHP). When Melissa began to consider an unassisted home birth, I was instantly on board! Brave women like Melissa are realizing that childbirth is not a commercial enterprise, and they choose not to give birth in an assembly-line atmosphere with lots of drugs and poking and intervention. Still, we all did a lot of research ....and I mean a LOT ....and learned all we could about how to birth naturally and how to handle any complications. Their birth experience was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. And the placenta eating? I was very supportive of this, too, because it wasn't ME choking it down! I knew all the benefits, and I had agreed to make a placenta smoothie for her, but she couldn't wait for the smoothie, and she began to merely swallow bite-sized pieces whole. Her recovery was instantaneous and nothing short of miraculous! I have come to believe through this experience, extensive research, and our clients' testimonies that every mother and child needs the benefit of ingested placenta. But not everyone can gag it down as Melissa did! Our placenta encapsulation service is just the ticket for mothers who want all the natural health benefits without the 'ick' factor! I am very proud of Melissa, and I am especially glad to work with her to spread the benefits of placentophagia for the benefit of new mothers all over Michigan.
I am a Certified Natural Health Professional (CNHP). I remember the first time I helped my wife, Melissa, with placenta encapsulation at the home of a client. At first, I went along so we’d have some quality time together (road trip), and so I could better understand this business that she loves so much (truth is, she’s hot in that orange apron she wears!). She asked me to help with this and that, and I was hooked! I love this business! I enjoy the entire process, especially knowing that new mothers are given such a tremendous recovery advantage …and I helped them! I really enjoy hearing the amazing testimonies we get from clients. To any fellas reading this, don’t get me wrong. I’m into hunting and fishing. I love power tools. But when my wife and mom’s business grew to where they needed to add a part-timer, I raised my hand. “Pick me. Pick me!!” So yeah, I get to do the heavy lifting, but they say I make nicer placenta prints and cord keepsakes than Melissa or mom. I’m on a mission, you know? And I’m serious about helping mom’s get every single benefit from their placenta. Because if mama's happy, daddy's happy, KWIM?
